Calling the Old Man Out: After Summer and Morty witness Unity loses its control, they demand Rick come home with them and tell him that Unity is great but he's a terrible influence on it.Bungled Suicide: Rick tries to commit suicide by being shot in the head with lasers but ends up passing out before he can.Break the Haughty: Even a shameless egotist like Rick can't handle getting his heartbroken.He says they're both right about Rick's actions, but really the points they make about what kind of man he is are mostly about their feelings for one another than about Rick. Both Sides Have a Point: Blim Blam deconstructs a lot of Beth's and Jerry's fight.Badass Bandolier: Rick wears a bandolier at one point.Assimilation Plot: A point is made about the pros and cons of conformity versus individualism.Beth and Jerry get into a fight over Beth's relationship with Rick. Maybe if Rick does take out Rick Prime, he'll embrace this new lease on life and love again.Rick rekindles with an old flame. As it stands, Rick and Unity - while going their separate ways - represent a shot at moving past Diane. Hopefully, Rick forgives himself in due time because in such a dangerous galaxy, Unity is a rare find, and one viewers hope Rick Prime doesn't use as leverage down the line. It's clear Rick accepts that he needs Unity at this juncture in life when he's slowly changing his old ways. Unity embodies that sense of love and family Rick is running from - something even his therapist, Dr. Ultimately, Season 7 proves their connection isn't surface level. But Unity is a good bet as they're the only entity that really dug deep into Rick's heart and soul, got him to feel and got him to react. ![]() Of course, convincing Rick his fate is to be happy in the now, to trust people such as Birdperson and even the new version of Mr. But if it's anyone who can crack his iron exterior and let him know this shouldn't define his fate, it's Unity. Unity knows Rick fought wars against the Galactic Federation and that part of him thinks this rivalry is mandatory. They know there's no victory for Rick and that the best form of salvation would be for Rick to abstain from the chase in the Adult Swim show. It still felt romantic, creating an air of sympathy and hope that maybe Rick could someday spark things again once he fixed himself. As a result, Unity left several love notes when they departed, all to let Rick down in an easy manner. But it was tragic as he never knew how to fill the gap or recover after losing his soulmate in Diane. Some fans felt it was payback for Rick's philandering ways and the fact he'd never settle down. However, Unity would crush his heart as they realized Rick made them more uncaring and toxic. In Rick's mind, it felt like a polyamorous relationship with all these different hosts. He saw it as a fling, but he couldn't help but be lured back into Unity occupying so many different alien bodies. Unity is the hive mind introduced in Season 2's "Auto Erotic Assimilation."
